Human Guinea Pigs Experimentation on Man

چکیده

Dr. Pappworth is a consultant physician who claims that it has become a common occurrence in the United States and in Britain for medical investigators to submit patients to distressing or dangerous procedures which are not required for the purpose of diagnosis or treatment but which are inspired purely by an interest in research and to take risks of which the patients are frequently unaware. He quotes from many published reports whose propriety he doubts, to say the least, and names the doctors and hospitals concerned. Few of the reports have to do with mental illness or subnormality but some patients with such conditions have been used as subjects for investigation of iodine and calcium metabolism and blood flow through the brain. Some of the experiments have been criticised in the medical literature, at times by leading authorities. Most of the investigations are concerned with internal medicine and it is difficult even for the medically qualified to assess them all without appropriate specialist knowledge.

Suppression of severe airway inflammation with non-toxic dietary nutrients in histamine-challenged guinea pigs: A comparison with Ibuprofen

We hypothesize that selected combinations of nutrients commonly encountered in the human diet, suppress asthma-associated airway inflammation more effectively than currently available anti-inflammatory medications. Here we demonstrate that biflavones and terpenes, distributed widely in human diet (in this case derived from Ginkgo biloba) synergize with the carotenoid antioxidant astaxanthin and...
